SLEEK DESIGN MEETS STREET SMART
This glare-free, 500-lumen, sensor-controlled light is the absolute high light for your e-bike. The automatic daytime running light increases your visibility on the road. The beam pattern was especially designed to meet international regulations for road-use headlights, yet still make the most of your riding skills when taking your E-MTB off-road.
The SL S for E-Bikes with Yamaha drive unit.
INCLUDES: Manual, Lamphead SL S, 31.8 mm handlebar mount (Stem width: 39 - 51 mm)
NOTE: Before ordering please check out the technical requirements on your E-Bike. To connect the E-Bike to your light, you will need a light cable. If there is no cable supplied with your bike, a cable must be routed through your bike frame. The light cable is not included with the light! It must be ordered separately.
A licensed Yamaha e-bike dealer can take care of the setup.
For over 25 years Lupine Lights has helped mountain bikers win races, illuminate the most challenging outdoor adventurers, and provided reliable light sources for life-saving rescue missions. Lupine's years of experience in precision-manufacturing paired with ongoing innovation in LED technology, elevate the new SL S to road use, right on your E-bike.
1. Daytime running light blinks for ultimate visibility and safety
2. Daytime and nighttime running light can run at the same time (trail mode)
Technical requirements E-Bike "SL S Yamaha (international):"
The SL S is suitable for all PW-X Pedelec drives from model year 2017. PW S-Pedelec drives also come with enough power from the lighting port. In both cases the light output achieved is 500 Lumens.
The light is not suitable for older models, cause the lighting port does not supply a high enough current.
High-tech stereo-sensors scan the ambient light and automatically switch the SL from daytime running light to full beam. This function is especially handy when at high speeds on an e-bike, when you may not have time to react.
LIGHT YEARS AHEAD
The heart of the SL is composed of 12 high intensity LEDs and the world's first dual Aspheric Lens System for bike lights. Their extremely robust and high quality aluminum body protects the SL from shock, dust, and water.
The SL is a special member of the Lupine family of lights. Not only is it compliant with strict e-bike light standards, but it also directs 100% of its 500 lumens directly on your path. The SL is designed like a car headlight and doesn't glare any other road users.
Mounting the SL is very simple and absolutely compatible with Yamaha PW-X electric bike motors. Installed by the specialist, it gets its power directly from the Yamaha light cable. This way the warranty of your e-bike remains completely untouched.
The SL is incomparable. Its unique look is due not only to the distinctive "daytime running light" but above all to the development performance of our engineers. With the SL, they created the smallest and lightest lamp in its class.
Great e-bike light for my Giant Quick e+ 2018, November 8, 2018 By Carl (Westborough)
I have a Giant Quick e+ 2018. It's a yamaha syncdrive sport system with a custom wiring setup that is a bit different than other e-bikes. The Yamaha cable https://www.lupinenorthamerica.com/item.asp?cID=0&PID=568 doesn't work because it comes with a male connector but the giant needs a female connector. Fortunately, the Giant comes with a stock light that has an existing cable. What I did to make this work:
1) Pull the existing light wiring out of the downtube until the JST connector is visible. 2) Pop out the JST connector using a small screw driver. 3) Using a wire cuttter, cut off half of the existing wiring. You want to part with the female JST connector. 4) Cut off the male end of the JST connector on the Yamaha wire (https://www.lupinenorthamerica.com/item.asp?cID=0&PID=568 ) 5) Install the new cable in the lupine light following the directions on the packaging. 7) Install the light. In my case I had to move the Giant / Yamaha LED screen to make space for the light. 8) trim the light cable to the desired length. 9) Expose the red / black conductors using a wire stripper. 10) Get a package of heat shrink. Heat shrink provides a water proof seal on wiring. You can shrink the heat shrink using a lighter. 11) Get a larger piece of heat shrink and put it on the wire. 12) Cut some smaller pieces of heat shrink and butt join the conductors (red to red, black to black). Using a lighter, shrink the heat shrink around each conductor. 13) Slide the larger heat shrink over the two conductors. Using a lighter, shrink the heat shrink. 14) Plug in the JST conductor into the Giant wiring. Push back into the downtube. 15) Turn on the power and enjoy your new light!
