Our intelligent SmartCore electronics pull power evenly from Li-ion battery cells, minimizing burnout, and maximizing the longevity of your battery. The battery also acts as a capacity gauge, offering visual and audio signals in 10% increments.
Our long-lasting, Li-Ion SmartCore batteries are completely waterproof and feature an extremely robust protective outer shell made of ABS plastic, made to resist extreme weather, shocks and mud. And, integrated electronics prevent electric faults on rough terrain.
Holy Piko!, April 11, 2018 By Bob (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA)(Verified)
I've been a Wilma user now for MANY years, starting all the way back with an 1100 lumen version, then graduating to a 2400 lumen version. GREAT light, but I was looking for something just a little smaller that could be used riding during the day to really get drivers attention (I got hit twice in a little over a year by drivers turning in front of me). I'd started using the Wilma during the day on flash-mode, and it really made me confident that there was little chance of not being seen. But, it is SO bright in flash mode that it's a bit overkill. Plus, again, it's a little bigger and heavier than I'd like for a "daily driver". So after a little research, I settled on the Piko. And is it tiny, light, and most of all - bright. I added the 3.3mAh smartcore battery and CNC machined handlebar mount (which is super cool, as it places the light out in front, just slightly, of the front of my stem). All together, it's an amount of weight that is inconsequential. Super light. I programmed it (easily done) to include a flash-mode, and while not as bright as my Wilma, it ABSOLUTELY gets me seen during the day. And, at 1800 lumens, it may even be bright enough for winter commuting (where I'll hit close to 45mph on one descent, so having a beam illuminating pretty far ahead is critical). All in all, I'm thrilled with the Piko. Over the years, Lupine has just gotten better and better. Crazy thing is that I still have my batteries from probably 12-15 years ago, and though they're not "Smartcore" with an charge-remaining meter, they're still up to the task of powering any of my Lupines. Impressive.
